NBD:Sadowsky Tokyo

It's kinda late to post it but it arrive this afternoon.. A really good way to wake you up.. My sister woke me up at 12:00pm hauling a box.. I was like ohhh snap! That's the bass I'm waiting for.. So grabbed a knife and opened the box..

What can I say? Even though it is an import product from Japan.. I can assure that this is one of the best 5'ver I ever played.. The B is tight, the action is damn low with no buzz.. I'll bring it on my band rehearsal tomorrow.. I can't wait to hear it in the mix.. :)

I'm thinking of changing the pick guard to white pearl too.. Any advice for cheap custom pick guard maker? I asked Roger about it and the price was kinda high for me..

I'll post more pictures tomorrow..

Congrats on a great bass. No "Even though it is an import..." disclaimer required on these basses. Sadowsky's Metro line is absolutely amazing, and when you find the one that sounds right to you, it's impossible to wipe the smile from your face.

Aren't the pickguards $50? Not to sound like Gordon Gecko or something, but I don't think the price is out of line.

Sadowsky Tokyo and Metro sadly have different pick guard so Roger quoted me for a custom pick guard.. :)

woke you up at 12pm?! late sleeper huh haha.

You sir have had some nice basses as of lately, enjoy, look sweet!

Thanks bro! Sadly I need to give up my 78' SR for this bass.. :)

WOW!!!
That's like the PERFECT 5-string Jazz. Looks like a Marcus, but without the funky not-my-cup-of-tea pickguard. That's a beaut!

Yeah, that PG is hideous.. lol

I was thinking the same thing.

I thought the TYOs were only for the Japanese market. How'd you get one to the US?

Oddly enough this is from Europe.. lol

Since I am in Delray Beach, we'll have to get together some day and compare Sadowsky's! I used my new Metro last night at The Back Room Blues Bar in Boca playing with Jr. Drinkwater and Muggy Doo (Buddy Miles keyboard player).

For sure and you will teach me how to be a great bassist.. :) Nice tone on your vids! :)

What are the difference between the Metro and Toyko series? (except different pickguard...)

Different pre-amp.. :)

Well, lookie here... Thats my old bass! :bassist:
What's it doing in the US? I sold it to some guy with a funky name over in denmark or something...

Its a great player isnt it? I absolutely loved that bass and took good care of it. The neck and fingerboard are uber-confortable and it's got a certain something special in the mix. it fills the room.

Take good care of it mate

The pick ups is different too.. Sadowsky single coils.. :)

I saw from the FAQ section of the Sadowsky website that:
"The Tokyo Line has been discontinued and replaced by the Metro Line. We have released our "Ultra Vintage '70s Metro" with blocks and binding."

However, it seems that the TOKYO line is still producing? I saw a Will Lee Model in Japanese Website:hmm:

The Tokyo line was discontinued and replaced by the metro line.

The Sadowsky Tokyo shop still produces instruments like the Metros as well as the TYO line which is essentially the Sadowsky custom shop in Japan. They produced some really cool sadowskys like the 6 String Modern 24.

I believe they only make instruments for their domestic market.
