Found this last weekend at the local Guitar Center, its a Schecter Omen Elite. It must be a newer, updated model because all the pictures I see online are of a completely animal. Anyway, its a great bass, a little bit different feel than what I'm used too, but lots of tonal options with the coil switching capability. A lot of bass here for $599.

Very cool! Any chance we can get a closeup up the body? That looks like a funky (in a good way) pickups and controls layout.

Very difficult to photograph. It has a mahogany body, black binding, and some kind of figured top in transparent blue. Real pretty in the sun. Here's a close up, not the best pic, sorry about the glare and smudges.

I forgot about the controls. pickup pan, master volume, master tone. Each pickup has its own 3 way switch to select each coil or both. ( at least that's what they seem to do.) lots of different sounds, similar to a Peavey T-40 I used to own years ago.

Yeah that is a lotta bass for the money. Are the elecs the same as on their CV series (appears to be)? I loved the CV, thought it competed well against my Roscoe Beck (similar elecs array)...and that's saying something. If it didn't weigh 10+ lbs I'd have def kept it.

Nice variation on the fret markers design, too. Grats.

It is passive as well. I got to looking around at some old photo's, it almost looks like they may have just re-branded the Apocalypse bass.

I was just seeing pictures of these yesterday. Very interesting. If it sounds better than my Omen Extreme I would be interested. Since it's passive with those pickups, does it give a sort of Jazz Bass vibe?

Jazz bass? Hmm. not really to my ears. More of a P, P/J, with some tendencies toward a Musicman HH.

It has kind of a "raspy snarl" all its own. But with some experimenting with the pickup switching, a jazz bass tone may well be in there.

I'm really liking it so far, I just weighed it in at 8.2 lbs on the bathroom digital scale.

The body shape looks like the old ESP/LTD C-Series or the Japanese ESP Horizon. I have a couple C-Series basses and find it to be an incredibly ergonomic and comfortable shape.

Schecter and ESP/ltd likely use the same factories overseas and there seems to be a lot of similarities across both companies' product lines.

Hmm P or PJ doesn't really interest me, however a Musicman HH does. I guess I'll just have to check one out myself and see how different it is from the Omen Extreme if it is indeed different. Thank you.

The link is broken now. There's a lot to like about this bass. Is it bolt on or neck through?

Totally underrated Basses

The Omen Elite bass is a GC/MF exclusive. I don't believe it's even on the Schecter website.
It's been available in red for at least a year. The blue finish OP has is new.
The 5er looks nearly identical, but is 35" scale.
It's on my list to try out if I ever find a GC with one in stock.

I was looking to try a Fender Meteora, but the Schecter really caught my eye. I really gassed for an apocalypse when they came out, but couldnt swing the 1500.00 price tag at the time.

I was very happy to find this.
