NBD. Schecter CV-4

Since I barely play 4 string, I was curious about a jack of all trades, master of none bass. Really liking it so far. It is very comfortable. It has a wider nut width than I'm used to, but the shallow depth makes it a breeze. The fit and finish are perfect. It is very light at just a hair over 8lbs.
It was setup fine out of the box, but I went through and lowered the action. I threw a set of light Daddario Balanced Tension on it. No buzz with low action. Pickups in single mode get a nice grind. They mellow out some in parallel mode, and are clean and loud in series mode. It cops a passable jazz tone and a good p tone with the neck solo'd in series. Nothing to write home about, but is more than great enough in any gig I would have.
The comfort, great build quality, and versatile range of tones make it a great gigging bass for someone like me. So far I am happy, but I am going to have to put it through its paces for a few weeks to see if it stays impressive. Honeymoon phase is real ha.
Now I have to see if I can get Schecter to sell me one of the black pickguards that come on the other colors in this model.
No pics no bass right?

They are nice. I like the five string version too:

Wow, you found a light one!! I was looking at one of these at my favorite shop at least a year ago and liking it a lot, but it felt like it wasn't any lighter than my old parts J-bass that's become too much of a load for me to manage for a full gig. That old bass weighs 10.5 lbs., but the passive P/J I play now is about 9 lbs. with terrific balance and a wider neck (approx. 1 5/8" nut width) that fits my fretting hand much better than a typical Jazz neck that's 1.5" at the nut.

That wider neck on the CV-4 seemed to be pretty cozy for me and it looks as though it's the same one that Schecter puts on their P-Bass. I've actually mulled over the possibility of swapping one of those necks onto one of their J-4's, but that would be messy if it didn't work out. If the CV-4 I tried was anywhere close to the weight of the one you've got, we'd both be in the club (or starting one).

Now I'm rather liking the specs of the Maruszczyk Elwoods I've seen advertised, but I need to make a half-day trip to sit with one in a shop before I put any sort of serious thought toward that sort of a buy.

Very cool! Congrats on the new bass. Schecter basses are really an excellent value. I considered a CV-5 for a while but decided there may be too many combinations with the electronics. I was saving up for a Stiletto Stealth 5 but instead bought a SBMM Sterling Ray5 and couldn’t be happier.

All that to be said Schecter makes great stuff!

A couple of weeks late to this thread. I just bought one of these tonight and I've been a little nervous about how I'm gonna like it, though reading the comments in this thread have chilled me out a bit :)
I was looking at the Sire M5, but didn't like the crazy active pre-amp on top of all the other options...and then I saw the CV-4 which checks almost ALL of my boxes. I don't have easy access to any stores that sell them so I bought 'unplayed' (where the nervousness comes from).
I am curious @NerdyOcean, it's been a couple of weeks... how are you feeling about the bass now? Have you discovered any specific complaints?

I just got the CV-5. As far as I can tell (I performed a "tap test" on the pole pieces using a screwdriver), the "split coil" mode is really "single coil" mode. It turns off the coil closest to the bridge. Do y'all agree?
(I was expecting split mode to be like a p-bass pickup. The way the pole pieces are colored hints at that.)
