NBD! Schecter Stiletto Studio 5

I picked up this Schecter Studio 5, due to trading my Gibson EB-5 bass with a neck having B string stability issues. The color strangely attracted me to the bass, in a sea of Leo Replicas.
The Sound with the EMG 3 band, and neck through design was spectacular. The action is low and the B string is tight and aggressive sounding.I am very happy that GC had this amazing sounding bass on the wall, at the right time. The Schecter is a steal of a deal, and the factory set up and craftsmanship is almost as good as my old Spector Euro LX. I highly recommend the Studio 5 if you want to shake the floors with every clear note you play. The Shecter and my new Embassy are 2 great imports that definitely have suprised me with how great they sound right out of the box!

Fantastic neck on them, no neck dive, just a very nice, quality bass. I tried DR black beauties on it to give it a stealthy look, but had to pull them off as I didn't like the tone of the strings with the EMG's. Oddly enough, I've since moved away from coated strings all together.

I have always loved DR Hi Beams or Pro Steels, but I am digging the factory Ernie Ball Strings for the dark tone response and attack. Very cool set up with endless options. I run a Rumble 500 with a Eden WTDI preamp, and I am definitely having to pull back gain and tone it back with the on board really packing a low end punch. The sound will be hard to tame, but I am up for the challenge. Very excited.

I had the same with the shecter being set up ready. No sharp fret ends, perfect low action, and paint and finish is top notch. The World factory is doing top notch work.

Yeah man these Stiletto Studios are outstanding. To this day I've had no neck or fret issues and the build quality is terrific even for a much more expensive bass. I did eventually upgrade the electronics to active EMG' s and an Aguilar pre. You're right to compare this to Euros, I couldn't justify peeling out that kind of cash for a bass that was only a little better than my Schecter. Which made me hold out until I got a deal on a USA.

I have the older 4 string in honey satin.
Love the build quality but couldn't wait to rid the electronics and bridge..
Tonalities of a screaming harpie (maybe I bought a lemon in that department) and the bridge was impossible to set the intonation properly.
Got rid of all the gold trimmings and replaced with black. EMGs straight in the bin along with preamp (which self destructed after 2 weeks) and in with SSB4s and matching preamp.
Way better now...

I have the 8-string version of the Stiletto Studio bass, and every time I pick it up I am amazed at how comfortable it is, and how wonderfully well-made it is considering the modest price.

I will concede that the electronics are the weak point, and if I had a 4- or 5- or 6-string Stiletto Studio I'd probably replace the pickups and preamp ASAP ...but with an 8-string bass the sound of the octave courses so dominates the character of the instrument that it's hardly worth upgrading these electronics. They're perfectly serviceable, clean and quiet.

Pulling the trigger on a Studio tonight, and I was wondering what kind of bridge you decided to replace the stock one with? I have a Schaller and brass Hipshot A on my parts shelf at home, so one of those has to fit, I would think.

Me gots one recently, too! Though, I replaced the bridge, tuners, and knobs. Indeed, this is a HUGE value of a bass. The neck is phenomenal.
