Are they XLs? I thought some buyers had gotten Ernie Ball strings on their new Sires?

Hmmm, yeah, the invoice says Ernie Balls, but here are the ends, aren't these XLs?

I have to say still loving this bass. I learned on my older brother's '54, and haven't played an SC style P since, so in a way, it feels like "coming home", everything's in just the right place.

Yeah I'm still playing it as is right out of the box, not even new strings. Loving it as is. Might try new strings as I usually don't care for D'Addario XLs, but they're working just fine on this one. I'm usually a DR Hi Beams kinda guy.

First impressions
First Thomann is very fast in shipping to the US!
Loving the roasted maple neck. Very smooth and not a sharp fret anywhere.
The black pick guard against the vintage white body is a good contrast and the paint work is flawless.
All I had to do when I removed it from the box was tune it up. Action is great and the pickup is dead quiet.
Sounds like a Pbass should! Definitely a keeper and my main bass from now on

Cool. That is fast shipping for sure. I got my first two Sires from Thomann because exchange rates were so lopsided, it saved me a pretty big chunk (making already inexpensive basses even cheaper). No complaints with Thomann here. Glad they did ok by you, too.

OK, Rob, you bought one of the last ones, the last one Thomann had was sold yesterday and they are out of stock now. Not shure if I should thank you or what, but my wallet sure think it is OK...

I haven't had to on mine yet, but the neck butt access has worked ok for me on other Sires.

I just ordered the exact same one from Sweetwater a couple of days ago. They estimate It'll be available to ship by the end of next month. This will be my 3rd Sire. I have a V7 Jazz and a V10 P/J.
The stock pickup on the D5 does sound nice from your playing example on SoundCloud! How are you liking the bass now after 2 plus years? Thanks.

Well, I've been missing it most of the last 2 years, because it's been in storage while my house undergoes emergency renovations. I'm hoping to bring all my babies home soon!!
