NBD: SIRE P7 5-STRING SWAMP ASH 2ND GENERATION

I finally had the chance to gig the Sire P7. It sounded awesome! We were outside under a tiki hut and I was playing through my Fender Rumble 200 with an extra 200 cabinet underneath. Set on 5 and kicked butt. I am truly impressed with the tonal and build quality of the Sire. This bass guitar delivers the goods.

I am not surprised. The more time I have with my M7, the more I like it. I would definitely buy another Sire bass at some point. Most likely one of the V7s, unless I get impatient. Then I might settle for a V3. For now, I'm pretty satisfied with my little collection. I might upgrade some pickups here and there. I've been wanting to try some Aguilars on one of my Ibanez bassees.

I have been waiting quite a while to try a 5-string bass with 18 mm bridge spacing. I could never find one in the guitar store. So I decided to take a leap and get a Sire P7 5-string 2nd Generation. I had a hard time finding one anywhere, but it was so worth the wait. It came out of the box almost in tune. Great set up, great action, perfect intonation. The rolled fretboard edges and satin neck still have me drooling. The sound is amazing! And for sure, 18 mm is my wheelhouse. This bass feels like home.

The only thing that would have made me happier is if they had given me the Sire gig bag. The one I got is nice, but it is not as nice as Sire's.

Many people have called me a cheap skate; this is the most money I have ever spent on a bass guitar. Let me tell you what; this bass is worth every dime. Sire Rules!!

Very nice! Recently picked up the Jazz bass version and I love it for all the reasons you mentioned. Never knew about Sire but they are killing it when it comes to mid-tier basses that feel like top-tier basses. I'm also really liking the tonal variety the active electronics allow for.

They are fair bang for buck and is as much as you can expect.
Plenty of higher priced basses do not match them
$ for $ but they are far from perfect as you'd expect.
Woods and build ok, pre amp is decent, rest of hardware is cheap. imo.
I have one and it probably will not be the first I'll sell.

I have noticed the tuner keys could be better. Perhaps it's just the fact the bass is new and is acclimating to where I live but it does seem to drift out of tune after just sitting for a while. My other bass (a Schecter) stays in tune even if it sits there for weeks.

I'm in South Florida. Weather here is pretty stable. I played outdoors for 3 hours and I had to tune maybe twice. I don't have that problem.

A more likely culprit is the strings.

Also, if there is a air conditioning/heating vent in the area that impacts on the instrument, this can cause the instrument to go out of tune.

Or even bright sunlight for (like in a stand by a south window) part of the day and shadow the rest - it's the changes more than the actual temp / humidity.
