NBD slab board P bass

NBD!! Came across this slab board Pbass and couldn’t pass it up! I had a refin done in 1986. When that was done the screw holes for the tug bar and covers were drilled out and plugged rather then being filled with wood filler. Pick guard and controls are not original. Body and neck are dated 8/60. Interesting this is it has a 10 screw pick guard.

Forgive my ignorance, but can someone explain to me what makes a "slab board" P so desirable -- other than being "vintage" and/or rare?

Not a knock on O.P. or anything: just curious.
