NBD... sort of

It's New Bass Day! Well, sort of! That beautiful mahogany body in the middle had been living under the guest bedroom bed for several years as an unfinished project. Not sure of its age but I think it is early 80's even though that bridge and control plate probably are not. A few weeks ago I shipped it to CLF Research aka BBE Sound aka G&L to have a neck installed. I also ordered new control knobs and toggle switch covers to give the thing a more period correct look. So after impatiently waiting most of yesterday for the bass to acclimate after its long trip from Fullerton, CA, I tuned her up and ran through a few tunes unplugged and fell in love! Previous owner wired her for passive only but also tweaked it to select inner/outer coils. She sounds pretty great through the big rig haha! Hoping to do a little recording in the near future.

That's awesome - you can not go wrong with an L-2000. For a player - it is a near perfect bass. And with a somewhat rare mahogany body - score. :bassist:

Wait what? You you had a G&L body in pristine condition sitting around? How does something like that ever happen? I don't mean you getting it (I presume you bought it from a used site), but I mean... how does one of those come into sitting around for sale? Did the guy break the neck and toss it and sell the body/electronics? Did he take it apart to work on it and lost the neck? LoL
