I actually got this off of Reverb about 6 weeks ago for a song. It's a 1980 Vantage VP710B in near mint condition. Almost zero fret wear, beautiful headstock, excellent build quality and a neck to die for. Narrow and slim. Now as you can see, after hanging on my wall for a while, I decided to remove the thick brown and very glossy finish. I've almost always preferred a natural finish to paint. My initial thought is to trim away the rounded edges and square them off, kinda' like an old Les Paul, Jr. I think that it will look very cool with a satin clear finish. I already got the Hipshot bridge and have done the obligatory 2 part epoxy ritual on the threaded inserts. I'll also be sanding off the clear coat on the neck for a light oil treatment. Should I leave the headstock alone?
I would welcome hearing any thoughts or recommendations. No hate mail please.

I've been thinking about doing the same on one of my red VP710B's. But I ended up wrapping one (top right) in vinyl instead.
If it was my bass i would fix the headstock to.

I can't help myself when i see VP710B's :hyper:

I'm really glad you posted pictures of a stripped Vantage. I have always wondered what they look like stripped!

They are painted as far as i can see under the clearcoat.
You can buy decals if you remove the logos.
It's a capital V and the text Vantage in font/typeface "Vivaldi".
I don't know where you live but here in Sweden it would cost around 200 SEK ($20) for decals.
I'm a signmaker and i have put the V and logo on gigbags and stuff. :)
