NBD: Squier Classic Vibe 70's P bass

A few questions about this bass:

I was adjusting the string heights and it seems to be meant to have the A and D string a few mm higher than the E and G, is that how P basses are or just this one? The High mass bridge screws won't let them come down to the same height as the other two.

second I would like to put flats on it: what is recommended?

The strings should generally follow the fretboard radius so the A and D are higher. If all four strings were at the same height as each other, the A and D would be rattling against the frets. Those two jazzes on your wall are probably the same way.
