It's old, dirty, and rusty but it feeds my tinkering addiction. It's getting stripped and refinished as well as all new guts.

Wasn't able to date it but I was born in the late 80's and I would imagine it was around that time as well? Maybe someone has more info on that.

If you strip it & it looks nice, just leave it natural & put a nice tortoise p/g on it.

I wouldn't put much money in it, unless you have some dream pickups you want to put in it.
It probably sounds fine as it is.

Korean made Squiers are actually good quality instruments.
You might want to just give a good cleaning and setup and try it before modding it out.

Ya apparently these can be a gamble on quality. I'm really happy with how good the neck is. I did however get a plywood body, from what I can tell some are ply and some aren't?

I have an Ibanez that has a plywood body and it sounds fantastic, so you never know.

This is mostly my reason for wanting to replace. Crumbled as soon as I took them out. Also judging by the wear I'm assuming the previous owner was pretty funky

Not sure what else would cause that wear
