Finally got around to putting this beast together. 1 pc Warmoth Black Limba body, paired with a 2 band John East MMSR preamp + Nordstrand MM4.2 pickup.

The Status Graphite P neck feels amazing. First time owner of graphite here. As a long time super-fanboy of aluminum necks I gotta say that this feels familiar but different. I love how resonant it feels in the fretting hand while playing. And the construction itself is unreal! Like playing a work of art!

I sourced the bridge from a 2004 Fender American Deluxe Jazz bass. Decided to steer clear of a hi-mass bridge purely for want of having that regular bent plate bridge feel, with a dash of exquisite.

This turned out great. First time using a John East preamp as well. Definitely lives up to the hype. Currently strung up with some DR Pure Blues. In my excitement to sit down and play it, I forgot to drill out and install the strap buttons lol but that will definitely happen tomorrow. This thing rips!

Brings a huge smile seeing this come to life and beyond happy it came together in a way that aligns with my vision… vintage modern, punchy and growly angry piano with annunciation lol! Wouldn't have let it go to anyone else, not going to lie… makes me a little jelly but I'm in love with this Bongo! Glad you're happy, that's what's most important!

Whoa! That's beautiful. What a great build. Regarding the bridge, you're more than good. No need for the hi-mass, the bridges from that era were substantial enough. Just look at the thickness on the bent portion. I had an American Jazz Standard from that era (2006ish) and it had that bridge.

Anyway, really cool stuff. Thanks for sharing.

From me. Have had it in the stash for over a year. I got it from @Rumblefisher I drove from WI to Queens to pick it up personally. Wasn't cheap.

It's a killer neck. Bought it used but excellent condition from Japan. Got killed on the shipping and import fees. It was $$$$ to buy that neck … so you can imagine another few hundred bucks lost to fees/ship

Dude bass looks awesome!! I'm sure it sounds phenomenal!

Thanks for all of the kind words, folks! Right now I'm only bummed because I wish I'd snagged a Status neck decades ago lol. I can't describe just how perfect it feels in the hand.
To answer the question- as it sits now, sans battery / control covers & strap buttons, it weighs in at 9 lbs 11 oz on my postal scale.
However it is currently rocking a set of hefty vintage style reverse wind Hipshot keys + the matching Hipshot D-Tuner. I could shave it down a smidge w/ some Gotoh Resolites or Carbon-O-lites but truth be told I think it balances pretty dang well as-is! We'll see how it feels on a strap though.
