Kind of wanted a back up for my Ray 24 so after looking at the impressive reviews for the Ray 4 I decided to pull the trigger. Bought from a local GC where it was listed online but still in the box upon my arrival. It was technically playable right out of the box. Electronics also feel great. Pick up hotter than a stick of dynamite though.
The neck has some teeth marks/marring by the headstock on the backside, and one of the screws on the G string tuner was out a little bit. I noticed the screw at home and just took a size 0 Philips to it. The nut slot seems to be cut a little big which I didn't notice until I got home either. Of course there's also a little nick at the bottom of the neck past the last fret, my Ray 24 has the same one so I know that's not a problem.
A local tech told me I had nothing to worry about, and that all the potential issues were purely cosmetic. Being that I'm happy with the weight and electronics I'll probably hold onto it. Oh yeah here's the best part, I was able to swap pick guards with my Ray 24. The mint green with black pg is such a good look! Check it: (sorry images are in reverse order lol)
