lol nah but the sterling sterling is an awesome bass! Got a good discount and pulled the trigger. My first budget bass in a long time so I was kinda nervous about the fretwork but it’s actually pretty good! Came with a black guard and immediately replaced for tort and some radio style knobs. Tuners will get replaced here soon. Kinda heavy at 9pounds 10oz but not a problem for me. This alnico pickup is no slouch either and I’m impressed for what was a sub $600 bass. I love the neck heels on these basses too.

Nice. You don't see too many Sterling Sterling Sterlings, mainly Sterling Stingray Sterlings.
Inclined to like but OLP got the passive MM pickup/Passive Stingray-type formula right for much less money with Volume/Volume/Tone control where each coil of the MM humbucker could be chosen or blended/combined. Given that, this instrument seems a bit underthought, and not nearly as tonally versatile as it could be, which is a shame. I guess this instrument could be modded...

The alnico mm pickup is a bit different than the ceramic and neodymium pickups used in the USA basses. Less sizzle and more vintage type of a sound. My first rosewood bass in probably 20 years and the notes just sing. The sustain of rosewood is really nice. I’ll have some videos once it’s finished getting tuners and my flats on it.

What tuners will you be getting? I received a SBMM Stingray on Monday with a damaged tuner and am trying to get replacements. If that falls through, it would be nice to know what others are using.
you may want to replace with aftermarket anyway since their tuners really suck.Congrats!

Yeah thanks for the question! The Hipshot HB1 is a direct fit for the bushing and post hole, 17.5mm. I was really hoping the 4 screws on the back of each would line up, but only 2/4 do so I'll probably just fill all the holes and redrill them. If you're looking for something lightweight there are some other options as long as you can get 17.5mm for the hole size. I wasn't worried about weight much on this bass so just went with the HB1. And a bonus, Hipshot offers them with a short key so I opted for that. Wont stick out so far past the headstock.Congrats!

I checked their site for any matches and didn't see anything. If only it were a Fender!
I can buy a complete set of Fender MIM tuners for $40 all day long. But then I've never had a broken Fender or Squier tuning machine either.

First time I’ve ever attempted this gluing dowels and redrilling holes. Not recommended for a beginner, you could really mess up a bass in lots of ways. But turned out great! Using a chisel working it like a knife cut them super flush. Did a fret level crown and polish and it’s playing soooo nice. Man these basses are such a good value. Pino flats light gauge on it, so smooth. Anybody want the stock tuners let me know!

It is blue pearl thanks! WD pickguards. I think it’s tortoise and parchment with a wide bevel.

It's a little more expensive over here; but it's better because it's priced in Sterling.
