Delivered today, 2011 Stingray Classic 5 in almost mint condition. This plays and sounds great! Put some Ernie Ball Colbalt flats on it and did a minor setup. I love this bass so far.
Weight is 9.9 lbs so it is a little heavy but I knew this before purchasing.

That actually light for a Classic 4 or 5. Nice trio!!! Now the big question is which is your favorite and why?:)
Thanks!
I honestly don't have a favorite yet. They all have their own default sound signature that is useful to me.
The 2013 3 band is my aggressive sounding bass of the three. It just rocks!
The Special is the smoothest sounding of the three and is the best for multiple genres.
The Classic is just old school Stingray tone for days.

For playability and comfort, I would say the Special is the best, then the 3 band, then the Classic. Although I am really loving the feel of the neck on the Classic, but the body is a slab and is less comfortable then the other two.
I am really happy to have all 3.
If however you stuck a gun to my head and made me choose, I think it would be the special just because it is the most comfortable and its the best for multiple genres IMO

Great to hear all of what you shared.
I fully understand . There is such a difference between the different StingRay eras. Anyone considering one needs to try several out and find the best fit and not assume they all sound and feel and weigh the same.

You seem to know where to find all the good ones. Where did you located the Classic 5?

It was on Facebook Market Place from a Pawn Shop.

I do have to say that I notice when I play the Classic for a half hour or so then switch to my Special, the Special sounds like it has less body than the Classic. Not sure if that’s the correct description but the Classic has more meat to the tone and cuts through better. When I try to EQ the Special to match it just doesn’t sound the same.
