I've seen quite a few of these with real nice figure in the necks. Mine has almost a quilted appearance.

Too bad they cap it with that bland light maple. I wonder why they don't do a one piece with a skunk stripe???

They do take a nice neck and put a plain slab of maple over it sometimes don't they. I have a douglas where they did that. The body and neck back is so pretty the plain fingerboard stands out like a sore thumb. I do have an sx tele with a killer fb and neck back though.

True, true. But I ain't mad. I kinda prefer a plainer looking fretboard. Note that I'm NOT saying that if the board was figured, I'd like it LESS, just that for parts of my bass that are most likely to show wear ( fretboard) I don't especially want pretty wood.
