NBD - TUNE Japan

The TWB 5s have 18mm I believe.
I think the majority of Japanese Tune 5ers are 18mm; my PH-5 is 18mm and is very nice for pick playing. Not sure about the Korean 5s, and I know you can order them with Hipshot A style bridges which are variable, but 18 seems to be the standard.

OP, congrats on the bass. These are seriously awesome instruments and the preamps they come with are some of the best that I have used.

The fretless does sound nice. I would love to get a new one in that new shape, especially the bubinga top, that's real nice. I tried one a few years ago, that 3 band EQ sounds so nice. I need to save my pennies.
Me too.
The pricing on these is very reasonable, if they sold in the states prices would be higher.
Honestly it’s been awhile since I felt any brand loyalty, but I really dig what they do, these won’t be my last.

I would agree that "tune" brand basses would be very appealing if there was a distributor in the US, sort of the same issue with the Harley Benton basses. It is amazing to see the really amazing basses that are made all over and not distributed in the US

Just more Tune porn courtesy of Reverb...

REALLY enjoying my TUNE basses. They are both MIJ. The bottom one (Bubinga) I just received today (E-C) is a Hybrid model with active/passive and coil tap switches.
its a 30th Ann. model. the only one Ive seen so far with a top- and back "sandwiching" the body. Really enjoying this one. Smoooooth action all the way up, so low, but you can still play firm with no issues.
I do wish they had a dealer in the USA but then again the prices would probably go up substantially.... Anyway just wanted to share.

Tune did have a US presence.

For a few years Sam Ash sold Tune basses, The deal ended after SA tried to buy the brand name and were told "No !" .

SA's response was to off load Tune products at $200. Many felt this was an attempt to damage the brand's standing, Tune certainly thought is was so they promptly wrote off the USA and concentrated on other markets.

The kind behaviour shown by SA does not go unnoticed , for many the US market is not worth the trouble.

I hear this…
This was TUNE Korea.
I would love a TUNE Japan distributor ordering and taking custom orders.

Tune Guitar Maniac are a custom guitar builder with many years under their belt ,if they thought a US distributor would be a benefit then they would have one.

You would also be paying higher prices to cover the US distributor's cut :D

I'm pretty sure Guitar Maniac are working at a level of sustainable success. The workload isn't too heavy , they can keep to time scales , local customers means no breakdown in communication or translation errors. All in all everybody is happy.

Sustainable success is the goal for most custom builders , when they attempt to go bigger it often ends in tears.

Do you know. Is Tune MIJ only licensed to sell in Japan.

No.

WSC Music in Korea own the brand "Tune Guitar Technology" and have worldwide rights to the name , have done for decades. The luthier shop in Japan mostly trades as " Tune Guitar Maniac" , if you want a Guitar Maniac you just order one from their site.

Note. Tune Guitar Maniac are not related to Crews Guitar Maniac , another Japanese brand . Also note. TGM's Phoenix brand is in no way connected to St Louis Music's Electra/Phoenix/Westone brand , they just use the name.
