Noice!Love my Tune 8 String still hoping to score a couple more models - the semi hollow fretless, and the wild looking "TS365" model...
NBD Tune 8 string!!
There's no difference, both use the same templates. For the MIJ guys and gals that have tried the MIK equivalents- like the TWB or SWV, etc… are the neck profiles close?

Tune's Japanese production was quite short. With winning the Levinson contract , the workforce were overstretched so WSC in Korea supplied Tune Japan with necks/bodies for Japanese assembly work. After a year or so WSC took over all production duties, next it was the whole package including distribution. WSC also holds the rights to the name
Where Tune Guitar Maniac in Japan and Tune Guitar Technology differ is custom work. Guitar Maniac will undertake any finish you desire , LEDs and inlays too. Guitar Tech are a factory, they don't entertain any custom work

Sorry, didn't mean to turn your wonderful NBD thread (congrats! :envy: ) into a Tune Porn thread. (Ok yeah well, maybe I did just a little lol)![]()
Or use a heat gun on its lower setting and go slow...have patience. Thanks I’ll give it a try.
Yeah the MTD Kingstons have the same issueVery cool TWX51. Congratulations
Easiest way to straighten the TRC out is heat. If it was a plain cover I'd suggest soaking in hot water but that's risky when there's the gold logo. Leave it in the sun instead , bend it while it's soft.
With early Peaveys it's the whole PGYeah the MTD Kingstons have the same issue

I love my Tune TWB63's.Interesting looking instrument. What is their "claim to fame"? i.e. What makes them desirable over other Basses?
Very cool! I had a white fretless Tune Bass Maniac five string, way back in the early 90's. I used it on a couple reggae tours actually. That sucker sure was light and comfortable to play. Different body shape than yours. Interestingly, it appears it has been reissued: TUNE Bass Maniac TBJ51 NF - Fretless 5 String Bass - Snow White - NEW - Authorized Dealer | Reverb
That’s a sweet pair. Love the wood and gold hardware look as well, classy. I too like the rounder Jaco tone I can get out mine as well. For neck pickup I like the a dub tone with mids and treble back off and slight bass boost. Even with rounds, it’s deep and clean, and I can see using it if I weren’t playing my Berger for some reason. My other favorite is slight smiley eq, slight neck pickup blend for slap and fingerstyle. I haven’t slapped in a while but this thing spanks.I love my Tune TWB63's.
I first bought one back in 2007.
For me,I love dark exotic wood basses.
With no pickguards.
I get two of my favorite sounds out of my TWB's.
A beefy, grindy neck pickup tone and the burpy, round "Jaco"bridge pickup tone.
I have had five TWB's over the last 15 years.
Here are my current set of TWB Twins.
Fretted and fretless.

Honestly I don't really remember the sound of it that well, maybe because I decided to play a fretless fiver on tour with very little time having practiced on one. Plus I was playing through a single 18" - I think I was kinda preoccupied just playing in tune! But I do recall it had a solid PJ sound--pretty versatile.Sweet gotta try a maniac one day. Interestingly I talked to a great cruise ship reggae player when going to the Bahamas and he was gassing for a Tune. I mentioned the Bass Maniac but he said it was something else but couldn’t remember.

That bass sold back in 2019Interestingly, it appears it has been reissued:
Ah, interesting. Well, looks just like the one I had back in the early 90's. A buddy of mine had a pink one (fretted, four-banger).That bass sold back in 2019
After a bad experience with Sam Ash, Tune stopped doing business in the USA, VSN in Canada was the only source for North America. The white fretless was a NAMM model.
