NBD! Unexpected find. Fender Deluxe Jaguar

So I check out Craigslist a good bit, mainly just to see if there's a deal that is too good to pass up. A friend actually stumbled upon this find today. Called in to this small music store near Cleveland, and next thing I know, I'm the owner of this Fender Deluxe Jaguar Bass for well under $400.

Great find I think.

Thanks man! I just gotta figure out this noise issue and she'll move up the ranks. Way too noisy at this point.

Sounds like you have the original and not a current Deluxe (Invalid Link Removed).

The noise on the originals comes from a shielding discontinuity between the upper control cavity/plate and the pickguard and a lot of extra noise from the Mickey Mouse way they have the battery (not) connected. There's absolutely no benefit to getting carried away with some of the more extreme "remedies" that are in some threads here.

Fixing these two simple points got rid of about 90% of the atrocious racket mine had out of the box, though the electronics are still a bit noisy because they're just so excessive.

I'm not a huge fan of this bass, frankly.:hmm:

Congrats man! These basses are Killer. I'd buy 'em all day long for under $400. I have a 2004 Hot Rod Red. It's got a tiny bit of noise but I don't record with it anyway.

I'm not sure. Mine is "Made in Japan" with a T+6 digit SN. Which puts it somewhere between 2007-2010 due to Fender's transitional dating they put in that site.

Well I didn't get a chance to shield the cavities and connect to the pick guard. But I did add a ground from the bridge to the open spot on the input jack. A world of difference!!! I'd say about 85% noiseless without any shielding.

Sounds awesome!!!

she IS noisy, but I bet you discovered how to fix it and, after all that, that's exactly what compression pedals are there for

Anyway, an excellent giggin' bass or, as somebody else wiser than us already pointed out, certainly not a studio recordin' animal;)
