Yeah, Christian literally selects woods by listening to them for resonance. Soundclips will come!Aside from a nice digital "pinglike" taptone, a great piece of mahogany looks like it's put together in inch stripes...ribboned as yours is. Many luthiers use that as a sign that piece will be a great instrument wood. Beyond that, I've heard more than one respected luthier comment that excellent pieces of mahogany (and walnut) have an irridescence to them. By all accounts, it seems as though that piece of mahogany you have there is a fantastic tonewood. I'd like to hear what that bass sounds like!
Also, Unicorn bass is firmly on my radar of places I'd like to visit and potentially order from.

As I said in another thread, Unicorn basses are great pieces of craftsmanship and technology. I have played a couple of them and ended up ordering a fretless fiver a year ago... Soon finished...
Even the short scale Unicorns sound massive and still clear as a bell. I have not compared them to Dingwalls or knuckle, but they sure make a MIA Deluxe Jazz V sound muddy in comparison.

No no, this is a math fail, and it's not on your part. 0.8 x Z= 0.8Z, or 80% of Z. Your statement was totally correct. Incidentally, that means prices would be around USD$XXXX for a bass similar to yours.

Anyway, there will be a slight price increase in June, just so you know. He's quite busy ATM for the big guitarshow in Sweden May 8-9, and after that he will probably have even more work to do. The wait will be much longer if anyone orders after the summer.
Well, the 0.8 factor is based on that you will not have to pay the Swedish VAT ("moms"), which is 25% and included in Swedish prices.
