LOL. I have the Chrome 82s, which I think are the heaviest they offer in the Chromes. If you want the authentic Jazz tone, are you going with the new vintage Fender Pups?

Have you had the fretless set-up? I wonder if the phasey sound is intonation issues. That P5 is givin' me major GAS pains!
As close as I can get it. I just want that woody tone.
The chromes adorn the P-5. They have their virtues. I am going to give thema chance to dull a bit and thinking that the 'B' string will sound more like a note than the metallic vibration in or around the pitch of 'B'.
The Jaco-Knock-Off is quite playable. It tuned up nicely and seems to be on intonation wise. Neck relief & action are quite good, playability is automatic. The flats are light I think, and probably made to help the novice to ahve a gentle break in period to fretless and flats.
I want it to sound like a block 'o' wood...well a warm one.
I may have to break down and get a black/maple. I just hope I can get lucky on the weight like you did.
