NBD: Yamaha BB424X

Got a new bass yesterday, a Yamaha BB424X in black. Incredible bass for what they sell for, and aside from having to tweak the intonation a bit, it was ready to play right out of the box. The attention to detail on what Yamaha considers to be their "entry level" BB model is stunning. Fit/finish is impeccable. Pots and pickup switch feel solid. The strings even come wrapped in a corrosion inhibiting sleeve. The neck feels great. Not too thin and not too chunky, sort of inbetween a Precision bass and a Jazz bass with a nice light satin finish on the back of the neck. I'm really impressed with the build quality and it sounds fantastic. I'm really loving this bass. It also looks a lot like the BB2024X my bass hero Peter Hook has acquired.

Thanks. It's a nice versatile bass for sure. I haven't been able to put it down. I had been GASing for a BB1024X for some time, but wasn't ready to lay down the cash for one just yet, so I went with the more affordable BB424X and I'm really glad I did. Don't really see the need for the BB1024X now.

Ok, some clearer pics. It's got a 5 piece neck. The BB424X and BB1024X are made in Indonesia, the BB2024X is made in Japan. This one set me back $500.​

I got the BB424X in Tobacco Sunburst a month or so ago. Love mine, too!

And I agree, for an "entry level" Yamaha BB bass, it sure doesn't feel or sound like one!
