I walked into my local gc today, just to waste some time and maybe pickup a tab book. What I saw on the wall had me smiling. Ibanez artcore afb200 fit 299. Guess what I came home with

Guitar Center has some stupidly amazing deals once in a while. I went in there with my son one day looking for a bass and they had a new Zebrawood-top Alembic Epic on sale for $400. They were dumping Alembic at the time and the new price of Epics back then was ~$1,200 IIRC. I grabbed it and had my son try it. He liked it and used it for a few years - a record for him given the number of basses he bought and sold afterwards.

Very nice basses and a great deal!

My local GC had the same one at the same price sitting right next to the black one that cost twice as much. I would have bought it if it was long scale.

The long scale version was pretty uncomfortable to me. Sounded good but man it was a reach to that 1st fret!

Yeah that's annoying about some long scale basses with necks that start right at the end of the body. My very first bass that I bought new was the long scale Epi SG. I have fairly long arms but those first few frets were quite a reach.
