NBD...!!!

I had a GAS for a MusicMan StingRay. But I can not justify myself in spending 1000+ for it, as I am not a pro player, I do not earn from bass playing and I am not a very good player to own a StingRay, its just a fun hobby. I have been looking CL for quite a while now, but no luck on getting it used. So I got a SUB RAY4 this weekend from GC.
So far I am liking it.:hyper::bassist:

Now the only thing to do, is a little setup (the factory action is quite low) and change the strings.
Any recommendations on the strings? (as I do not have much experience)
I mostly like playing blues, walking bass, 12 bar lines. I like the Jack Bruce and James Jamerson sound.

Any suggestion on the strings is greatly appreciated (as I do not have much experience with different types of strings). I mostly like playing blues, walking bass, 12 bar lines. I like the Jack Bruce and James Jamerson sound.
The E string of the factory sound seem to produce fart sound even when I am playing relatively softly. I have pushed the pickups as down as possible.

Trans black...nice color.
I put D'Addario flatwounds on the one I had...sounded great. Works well with that hot preamp. Should be perfect for your music, too.
Remember, though, if you put flatwounds on, bend the string ends before you cut. Plenty of sites that show how to properly put strings on so I don't think it should be a problem.
