I thinking about Aguliar pickups and preamp or Adere what do thinknice looking instrument! congratulations!![]()
i'm sorry --- i don't have any experience with them (i've always used EMG for actives: mostly out of habit!).I thinking about Aguliar pickups and preamp or Adere what do think
Is there a way to smooth the fret edges its like a cheese graderi'm sorry --- i don't have any experience with them (i've always used EMG for actives: mostly out of habit!).
but both of your considerations get a lot of love here on TB! probably cannot go wrong with either!
the bridge pickup is 4 1/8" x 1 15/16" can anyone check Aguilar pickup for me pleaseI made a mistake in my previous reply (too many basses). Mine is also fretted and my frets were OK as delivered. The only real disappointment is the poor color match of the natural ash, the lower bout is way darker than the rest. I do dig the tone which makes a nice counterpoint to my SR505.
Any other options??the bridge pickup is 4 1/8" x 1 15/16" can anyone check Aguilar pickup for me pleasemy math is horrible. The spacing is
21/32 0.6563 16.6688mm string spacing at the bridge
It is a Douglas bass from RondoMusic, pics to come but for now

Cool, I used to have a Douglas WOB 826, which instead was a six-string and had dual humbuckers, instead of the single humbucker & single jazz pickup on yours. On mine the frets were smooth, although admittedly I bought mine used at a pawn store, so maybe the previous owner ran into good luck with theirs or had the frets fixed. Also the pre-amp in mine wasn't anything to write home about, so I wound up selling it last month. I have two SX Ursa 2 basses that I am really happy with and they occupy a lot of my time, but I saw this Douglas 5 string on Rondo's website recently so I might pull the trigger on it. Still on the fence though, just because of my past experience with the WOB 826 where I liked it, just wasn't in love with it. ...
CNC machines don't need to be paid. How do they make such a nice looking bass for that money??
Very light bass, preamp is nothing to write home about.Withe both pickups on bass and treble on full it has a usable tone
Humbucker by itself is thin and honkey, the single coil jazz is fuller and not to bad.So I might do the preamp first, See where i'm at,and thoughts about the 2 preamps
