I would be very skeptical of any instrument that makes this claim, everyone has slightly different preferences for their own setup, not to mention the changes in temperature and humidity mean that small adjustments will need to be made if it's shipped. Unless I'm having a bass custom made by a luthier to my exact specifications, any bass will need some amount of set up.

That said - it's a lovely instrument. I've always liked the look of binding on the body, though it digs into my arm with the posture I use so I tend to stay away from them myself. Congrats!

Yeah, I actually would have been surprised if it was truly set up the way I like it. It probably was better setup for aggressive pick players. It *was* playable, but I like my action bordering on fret buzz. Paper (card stock) shim and a 1/4+ turn on the truss rod got it where I want it. Tonaly, it's really bright. I have to keep treble bottomed and bass dimed to get me close to the warmth I like. The strings are new Ernie Balls but it doesn't day which ones. They will probably tame down in the brightness. I msy try some EB Cobalt Flats on it. I don't like clanky.
I can get a good tone through my Mesa D800. I have a sansamp VT that gives me some nice mild grit with it. Will post more pics later.

Just a suggestion, but have you tried D’Addario XT coated rounds yet? I wanted something to tame the clang!-clang!-clang! on a ‘70s-style Jazz I assembled, but without forfeiting most of the top-end. If you’ve used Elixirs, they’re pretty close to those, but cost a bit less.

Elixirs became hard to find so I am using NYXL's on my 35" basses and Kalium balanced nickel on my 34" basses that have rounds on them. I have Cobalt Flats on my Yamaha BB and my Ibanez SR. I tried Flats on a DJ-5 Lakland and it was awful. I have a new set of Cobalt Flats in the supply drawer and I may try them since they're on hand. Too expensive to just order them on a chance.

So I noticed that if really felt nice and light so I put it on the scale tonight. 8.65# is what it weighs.

Just played it in the worship service. Very, very good in the mix. Nice and punchy with good B string tone (.128" B). Had to have treble totally cut and bass dimed, so I think a new preamp is in the future along with some nickel strings. The black chrome hardware with the gloss black body just looks great under the platform lights.

Ok, as previously stated, the tone is excessively bright for my taste. I had some new EB Cobalt Flats in my string box, so I threw them on the Schecter. Seriously, soooo much better. I can now run treble in the flat (center detent) position with the bass boost up (still dimed), and it sounds AWESOME. The growl of this beast is amazing. Like a J on steroids. I will have to tame the growl a bit for church. But I'm digging it. I probably want to try the Fishman Fluence system in it eventually, but it's really good now. It won't displace my BBP35, but it will get plenty of playing time.

So, it's been awhile. Had some fret spout and the action rose over time. I installed a Fishman Fluence pup setup on it (like the SLS) and had Strange Guitars in NOLA do a full setup on it. It's super hot compared to all of my other basses. But the tone is good and hifi. Nothing distinct about the tone. It's in service at church and for its value, I don't worry about leaving it (but the Fishman and setup weren't cheap)
