Finally, it is settled! After playing a fretless bass, almost exclusively for about 12 years, I have decided to get back to playing a fretted bass … and have ordered a custom built beauty from local luthier: Brian LaPlante.
The hardest decision was whether to stick to a four-string or move to a five-string. Bottom line is that I have decided to stick to a four-string for now.
Here is a run-down of the specs:
P-style, body (locally cut ash)
One piece, quarter sawn maple neck
Birds-eye maple finger board
Aguilar PJ pickups (V/B/T)
Hipshot "A-style" Bridge: Black
Hipshot ultralight "Lollipop" Tuners: Black
Hipshot string retainer: Black
Black P-pickguard
Black knobs
The body colour will be a light brown, similar to roasted ash.
The cost will be just under $2,000.00 CDN
Super stoked and will post pics when completed, probably late fall.
