Now the USC player who stomped on the Bama guy's crotch--that was obviously intentional and truly contemptible.

If he really thought the play wasn't over, that's the damndest tackling technique I ever saw with a player holding the ball above his head.

He was head hunting. Play over or not, you don't do what he did. Heck, I played football back when head slaps, spear tackling, and clothesline tackles were legal and that would have got flagged. Everyone knew it too. He needs to be gone.

I don't follow a lot of sports - Notre Dame football is about it, got into the habit when I was in grad school there. That was a nailbiter of a game. Texas earned it. And I agree with the general commentary, ND just needs to make Kizer their starter QB and find a different role for Zaire.

Chad Kelly of Ole Miss is the new Jeff George. Talented as all get out, but undisciplined and has too much of a 'tude. Dude gets on fire and leads them to a 28-6 lead, but barfs up three turnovers and now can't move the ball. FSU has scored 33 unanswered.:rollno:

The Cougs lost the opener - that's five consecutive years. All I can say it was better than the butt-kicking CSU got from CU. There is some gloom in Wazzu-land, and much speculation that this bodes poorly for a possible GameDay visit for the Oregon game in Pullman on Oct. 1.

But I remind myself and my friends that Ol' Wazzu dropped the first game last season (Portland freakin' State), and sent in the Teaneck New Jersey girls' school squad to play in the Apple Cup (with the inevitable result) but still went to a bowl game and beat Miami.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit. As a Husky fan, it's one of those painful truths - the Cougs could be winless going into the Apple Cup, and the Huskies could be undefeated and it just wouldn't matter. If the Cougs are going to rise up and bite, it's the Huskies often enough to make people like me nervous.
