Just because we need another week of college football.

Alabama is back in action. Does it really matter who they are up against? Probably not, but LSU had the week off, too. Maybe Harvard could beat Alabama. At something, anyway.

Washington goes to Cal. I would hope the Washington offense does just a little better than they did against Utah. The over/under should be Miles Gaskin yards, not points.

Clemson appears to have pretty close to a bye for the rest of the season. Mike can tell us about the Big 10. Something about one loss teams, but I don't remember now. ;)

If Florida hopes to win the SEC east, they have to win at Arkansas. I think Florida wins Saturday. McElwain should have his players ready.
If I remember right, the last time the Gators went to Florida was when I was at the game and watched Tebow in 2008.

Me and my brother-in-law before Florida got rolling. He's a step below me, I'm not *that* much taller than him.

I'm worried. The Gators often have trouble going on the road in the SEC West. True, the Hogs got crushed by Auburn, but they've otherwise looked pretty good. The Gators' D, other than the second half vs. Tennessee, has been utterly dominant. But Del Rio has been unimpressive and turnover-prone lately. The outcome may depend on how he handles the hostile environment.

This should give us a decent indication of how the Gators will hold up vs. LSU and FSU.

LSU has also looked better under Orgeron--it pains me to say that, because I like The Hat. I doubt it'll be a cakewalk for Bama.

Chris Peterson is probably pretty happy today. The Huskies got put fifth in the rankings for the playoffs. So, if things ended now, they would be out. He's not big on accolades, and the committee didn't send one his way.

I had to turn off sports radio Tuesday afternoon. All the Seattle whiners going on and on and on about how disrespected the Huskies are, how the committee is biased against any team/conference in the west and they only love the SEC, how everyone is out to get UW. Ugh, so disappointing. Then you had the host lining up national guests who would get on and stroke his ego about how awesome UW really is and it's just a matter of time before they win the NC.
I don't think there has been a situation yet where the original four teams ended up in the playoffs later in the season.

Yeah. One of the committee members did what I thought was a fine job explaining how it all came down to schedule for UW and Texas A&M.
It's totally fine for UW. As long as they win out, they will jump A&M even if A&M wins out.
One thing I didn't even think about until it was mentioned, a power five conference champ is going to be on the outside looking in no matter what.

Fact is, the PAC-12 doesn't get a lot of attention unless a team like the dawgz steps up and really performs. Many of the games are too late for east coasters to watch, starting at 10 PM or later.

They're doing great this year, and good for them. I'm happy to see someone in the conference making noise again.

I believe that if both the Cougs and dawgz win this weekend, math dictates that one of the two will play for the conference championship. I expect both to win, so the suspense builds. Clearly in the PAC-12 north, the center of power has moved north from Oregon to the state of Washington this year.

You are correct about UW and WSU winning this weekend meaning they will play for the PAC-12 North division title in the Apple Cup. All other north teams will be eliminated from contention if UW (Cal) and WSU (Arizona) win.

Having lived in New Hampshire for two years, I can also confirm your comment about the late starts. I love me some college football, but those 10:00-10:30PM kickoffs were tough. I seldom made it through all four quarters awake.

The Wolverines get the Terrapins this week. The teams are similar and have a similar philosophy. Mich. throws a bit better and is a bit better on special teams. Both like to pound the rock. Marylands coach knows the defensive players quite well having been their DC just last year. Should be interesting. Big Blue had better not have a second half lapse like last week or they will be looking at their first loss.

Much as I hate to say it, it won't matter because the Aggies will end up losing to LSU on Thanksgiving to blow our shot at a playoff berth. You read it here first.

What's going to be interesting is if the Big 10 champion has a loss, LSU or somebody picks off Alabama and they have a loss, Washington drops one somewhere along the line, and Clemson loses one. And, Western Michigan wins out. Then what?

That one UW loss would be to WSU, vaulting the Cougs into the playoffs who win it all.
Stranger things have happened. :)
