I was going to like your post, Mike, as I agree with just about everything in it--but then you mentioned Verne and Gary. Personally, I'm looking forward to Verne's retirement--the man can't see a thing on the field! Between that and Gary's eagerness to insert some observation, I've lost count of how many penalties and controversial calls they've talked over/ignored until the ref got on the mic.
I didn't actually see OSU/Wisconsin, but it looked like a heck of a game. That and a few other matchups caused me to record College Gameday Final, I'm looking forward to watching that later.
Notre Dame is now 2-5. I bet they'll still be ranked in the preseason next year.
I listened to the WSU game on the radio last night. I fell asleep in the second half. Looks like that's when things got interesting. Wazzu has a ferocious defense and a decent running game! What's up with that?
Amen brother! Gary Danielson is an abomination. He talks because he loves the sound of his own voice. He adds nothing to any broadcast he is involved in.
That's fair and accurate.
For me, I like listening to them go back and forth telling stories.
I've gotten good at tracking the technical aspects of the game, so I don't typically rely on the announcers to tell me those things. I don't mean to imply you do, but having a couple guys being spot on with that kind of analysis isn't a big deal to me.
It just feels to me like we're listening in on a couple guys watching the game together. I like that. But I get it that others may find it annoying/distracting.
