NCBBD!

New cigar box bass day! Tooting my own horn a bit here. I've been building cigar box guitars for a few years now. As a bass player, I've had an idea for a 2 string bass but never took the time to build it. Well I finally did it and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

30" scale. Walnut neck, with a Bolivian rosewood fingerboard. The pickup is a piezo of my own design. Wired straight to the jack. Thanks!

I like the idea of the screw for the nut, very resourceful. I might have gone for a screw with wider threading to have the string settle in more, and tucked it into the wood a little more to compensate for the larger height. Then again, my guess is that you are not going to be playing heavy metal on it.

Super cool idea!

Thanks! I actually cut the groove for the nut (bolt) deeper last night to improve the action. Helped a lot.

I like that. Does it have much volume unplugged? I gave away my only ABG; I'm wondering if something like this would hold its own accompanying a few ukulele players (in which case maybe I'd make something like it).

Thank you! It is pretty quiet unplugged, but louder than I would have thought. You'd probably still want to plug in.
