With the blessing of my wife I went ahead and bit the somewhat smallish budget bullet and grabbed a Fender Rumble V3 210 cab to pair with my Rumble 500 combo...

Sadly the cable shipped in a separate order and won't be here for at least 3 more days... The waiting to hear this is killing me!

Yeah she is. The amp / cab's not too shabby either...

In my home office / music room where this will live, I already have basses wall mounted, and I realized after stacking these that, well... too tall. I need to move my hangers up at least 7"...

Which is all well and good. I was planning on mounting what could best be referred to as a ledger board across the top of each wall to mount guitar hangers from... And I wanted it over the door frames... Need to go to Home Depot and source up some common pine 1" x 10" 10' long boards...

Just hard to explain, I have only played it indoors @ home. I was doing some woodshedding in the living room today (Had the day off while the wife was at work...) It's scary freaking loud, and just full... It's everything the cab / speakers on the 500 combo are, but more. It's most likely serious overkill for my needs in the near future, but I can see in the long run I expect to need it...

Big Hoss - So how does your rig sound now after a couple months? I'm asking because I'm about to purchase a used V3 Rumble 500 combo myself. Tested it out and I thought it sounded great, but perhaps not as loud as I'll need for the 2 guitars & hard drums of our 90's grunge jam group... SO... I plan to also buy a new Rumble 210 Cabinet. All in all, that'll be about $700. Am I making a bad buying decision? Could $700 get me something louder and even better sounding? Love to hear from people who have the 500 Combo+210 Cab configuration. Thanks!

Well, I never thought the 500 was lacking in volume. I typically play either solo at home, with a jam group or subbing for another band, they are similarly outfitted with...

Guitarist, one of them is running an old all tube Ampeg 120 watt I think 4x12 stack, the other is running an older Fender 2x12 combo, about the same wattage, drums, me on bass, and vocals. With the jam group the vocals run into some old I think probably Peavey PA, everything else is just amps. With the band, the line goes out to the board, and everything through the BLs PA, so the amps are mostly to monitor.

Mind you, the Rumble 500 without an extension cab is only putting out 350 watts, with the extension cab it gets the full 500. PLUS you are moving that much more air due to the greater speaker surface...

I have described it before and will again, it is more or less the same as the 500, just more, it is louder, fuller, and richer sounding at the same main setting.

My style is a bit different from yours though, I am playing mostly classic rock / country / and what I have heard described here as "bro" country, we keep the venue filled with sound, so we are all good...

If you need more volume than this thing can give you, I would think you might want to check with the Navy, I understand they are working on sonic weapons of some sort...
