NCD - Hartke Hydrive 112

Spraying the metal part of the speaker won't affect it's performance/sound?

The original owner said it didn't...I didn't really notice a difference between the two myself. But I don't have the most sensitive ears, either.

@dbase That cart is awesome. I have the same one. Works well with most bass cab and combos.

I think I may need to grab one of thems myself...

Sometimes I pair my HD210 with my HX410 and it sounds great.

My buddy has an HD410 and it does indeed sound different than the HX410(silver grille)

I powder coated my grille on the 410 black to match.

Regardless, they both sound awesome.

Any issues with the volume of the TX600 at the whole 600 watts?

Some posts swear it rattles the windows, some says it has a weird pot taper or interaction, and some say no matter what it is weak and I have even read that the TX300 is just as loud. I don't know what to believe. I'd be putting it on top of an HD115 and HD210 stack.

Thinking of buying one as a backup once my big rig is squared away.

It does have a bit of a weird volume taper - nothing to complain about, but if you like to run your amps very loud, the 600 will seem to have more to give punch-wise than the 300.

When I pair the 600 with the 210, it’s loud, 410 loud, 810, it’s just a beast.

I have been fiddling with it for a few months comparing it to my Tech21 head, and it does indeed have more punch at 8 ohms.

I then took it to the studio where they have a Hydrive 810, and the TX600 is perfect.

Plenty of gig power for me.

I wouldn't put a solvent anywhere near that speaker cone, you could do something (really) bad to the paper - aluminum and dust cap bonds. Plus you'll never get it back to shiny like the unsprayed one.

Noted. I don't really mind the cone as is, but if it were to work that would be cool too. Not worth the potential damage, though.

Got my HD112 today. Sounded good at store volume. There was a cheap Peavey 115BVXBW ($120) that I felt I should take a look at Big iron big box - sound and db/dollar was unbeatable. Until I got there and realized I had no way to get it home and my wife would bury me in it. I mean I knew it was big. I hadn't factored in the depth.

Anyway I guess I'm on the long term lookout for another HD112 deal (got this one for $260)

How is the low (C# for example) freq. response with the HD210?
I have not played my 5 string at a gig with it. My 4 string (E) does fine. I am not quite as young as I was plus a back injury I have had to sell my heavy combos. Plus my gigs are small joints, i don’t have to crank it. It hangs in there. I have pushed about 200w and sounds great. I am in the new school of weight 1st then sound!

They turn up on Reverb and Guitar Center's website for $300-350 pretty often.
