I have never *bought* an amp or cab or pedal ... until recently -- was all built at home.

The local equivalent of GC opens at 10.00 - I'll have my nose presssed up against the glass waiting. What cables they have (or don't have) in stock -- and their price -- is a total lottery. Their inventory control system seems to be run by a goldfish.

Things are not going well so far.

Connect everything up, plug in bass ... no sound. Remove pedal board, plug straight in ... no sound. Switch off and back on ... faint thump so the cab is working. Try again, no sound. Dime the gain, yep the peak light is on. Plug in headphones ... yep preamp is working fine. UPDATE: 9V battery test says cab is fine.

Take cable back to shop ... connect it up ... bom bom bommmm.......

So, by a process of elimination, the PF500 power amp appears to be dead. Or am I missing something?

I'm wanting to try one of those out as well with my 74 SVT. If somebody would just buy my Aguilar DB 410...

I went 2x 112AV but dang if they don't sound great with an SVT

Sounds like it. Looking at the block diagram in the manual the headphone jack is one of the last outputs before the power amp/limiter, if it works up to that point...

Man, that blows goats! how long have ya had the amp? Could it be one of the earlier "duds"?

Russian Blues or Havana Browns?

slightly annoyed that it doesn't come with a speaker cable. anyway, the pixels of proof:

...and the cats now have a grand new fort to play in.

Serial number indicates it was made in the first half of October 2014. I bought it unopened in the box off a bloke in Richmond VA last September through eBay. I contacted the Australian distributor about registering it for the last 12 months of its warranty and they told me 'no way'.

I have been using it with headphones since it arrived and *thought* it was working fine. More fool me. The local guitar shop recommended a repairer although I dunno if he if he does Ampeg. Otherwise I'll go back to the distributor and see whether they'll take pity on me ... or at least tell me where to send the thing for repair. Anyone know what the price of an ICE module is?
