A present for the missuz, the resident drummer.

Pricey, but she so rarely buys anything compared to my basses, guitars, and keyboards ...

Those are so fun!! I just recently dug my TD-6 kit out of storage so I can start playing them again.

Hope she enjoys them (and appreciates you for getting them).
:woot:

Well, she shouldn't appreciate me too much. I bought them, but she paid for them! :D

They are pretty damn neat. The snare in particular is a technological marvel. Eight zones, which allows it to register brush sweeps, among other things. Getting the sound module just right for brushes took some doing, but it's really quite decent.

She won't give up her acoustic set anytime soon, but it's fantastic for quiet practice, and the possibility of very low volume gigs at some point, if I ever finally get good enough for our piano-drum duo ...

I had no idea the snare was so versatile.
Indeed! That's the main reason we upgraded.

FYI, a YT video from a kind fellow who shows how to set the snare up for brushes:

He's using the TD-50 module, but it works on the TD-27 that we have too. We have the same snare that he has (which is key), but the rest of his kit looks like the fancier version with realistic tom shells.

Nice! Congratulations.

I've had the TD-27 kit for some time now. Unfortunately for me, I got it just before they did the v2 refresh which includes the vh-14d hi-hats. I had to get them separately, and they made all the difference. It's not a total substitute for acoustics, but it's a real solution if space and noise limits your options.

One of the cool features is you can run the TD-27 straight into Pro Tools via USB and it shows up a playback engine. It's the easiest I've ever had it for recording a full kit.

I've also found that re-amping recorded drum tracks through my bass amp and some appropriate mics brings them to life.

Have yourself a blast!

Yes! This is the v2 with the VH-14D hi-hat. It's amazing, but definitely a bit finicky to set up, at least compared to an acoustic set.

We really are in a golden age of music gear!
