Neck materials

Whoa - there's a whole world of different neck materials out there. Here are just a couple off the Alembic site:

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (Maple with purpleheart laminates)

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (Mahogany with maple and walnut laminates)

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (Maple with ebony laminates)

Plus graphite's popular, wenge (Warwicks and others), all ebony (heavier than lead with sustain into next year), the list is pretty limitless. :ninja:

You can use a lot of materials for a neck:

Maple
Walnut
Purpleheart
Bubinga
Wenge
Ebony
Padauk
Mahogany
Koa
Various composites... the list goes on.

I suspect maple is most common because it is strong, lighter than many in that list, and fairly easy to get/cheaper. It's also easy to finish.
