Neck pocket structure/shim question

Is there a way I can add wood to the structure of the neck pocket to permanently shim it? I’d rather not use a shim. I have a couple Basses like a 78 Greco p bass and a parts bass with a warmoth ash body and standard fender p neck. The set up on the neck is spot on but the action is much to high for my liking and the saddles are as low as the can go. What can I do?

Yes, you can essentially glue a shim in place and "add wood" that way.

However, I would struggle to justify doing so, personally. It makes an otherwise easy adjustment into a permanent one, and if you ever try for another neck on that bass in the future you may find that your glued in shim is wrong for the new neck. Many Fender style basses need, and have, shims - it's not really a problem. And gluing it in place doesn't really change anything in terms of how it will perform or function. I would argue that a well cut shim isn't any different than if the neck pocket itself was "correctly" formed to begin with.
