Neck ridge

Yay wanna toss this ? Out there see what you all think. Looking into buying a used wrack corvette STD it has a 3 piece neck and it looks like there is a little ridge between 2 prices of the neck ( bass side) could this be an early sign of neck warp or is this normal and nothing to be concerned about? Thanks

Need pictures or better description. Are you referring to a little felt ridge down the neck where the peices are joined together If so and its just barely noticeable with no sign of seperation, its somewhat common in my experience. If its more then this then may be a problem esp if theres any indication of the strips seperating.

Normal for a multi-lam neck due to the varying expansion, contraction, and shrinkage rates amongst the various pieces. If you see no signs of separation, you're good to go. Warwick 3 piece wenge necks are infamous for this. If not truly bothersome, leave it be. OTOH, you can reduce the ridge with some Warwick wax and #0000 steel wool.

Well, I see some exposed wood but that's to be expected given my previous description. It doesn't appear to demo any separation / gap but difficult to tell by the photo angle. Are you able to insert the point of an Xacto razor? If so, you may have a problem but that would be best determined by a qualified tech. For kicks 'n giggles, pick a small portion of the worst area and attempt to reduce it with a small wad of fine grade steel wool. It will either cure the problem or make any underlying laminate separation more evident.

Note: if you dull the finish, it can be touched up good-as-new with a dab of gunstock oil.

Completely normal for a Warwick neck. I have sanded the ridge down and then re-waxed with great success. Its not an issue, but it will feel smoother if you take the ridge down. Good luck!

The is some wood exposed havnt tried a blade yet will do. Gunstock oil huh? I got plenty of that lying around lol. If it's normal that's fine just worried about this neck being or starting to warp
