Double Bass need a 12" speaker recommendation...

Just picked up a AI Contra, and it sounds great as a combo.

But I have an old late 60's 2x12 Fender Bassman cab that I'd like to update with some new speakers and drive it with the Contra head when I need something extra. The original speakers are long gone and what's in there now is garbage. The cabinet hasn't been used in years.

This is the cab that came with blond tolex and grill. It has a closed back.

It is expensive, but the Thunderchild 112 is the one of the best DB cabinets out there. There are lengthy threads on TB about the cabinet.

The Eminence Beta 12 is very similar to the original drivers used in the old Fender Bassman cabs, if that's what you want to know.

How this will sound as DB cab is completely unpredictable though.

Eminence Delta 12LF. I have two of them in a 2x12 Lopo cab and they really rock out with my Orange BT1000. I can get great vintage or modern sounds out of those speakers!
