I know what you're talking about. It was about two year's ago I guess. I was in the same situation playing almost everything from death metal, rock, blues to world music and easy listening jazz. And I didn't want to drag my Trace Elliot RAH600SMX with 8x12" around any more.
My solution: 800 watts in a 40 lbs. package with the Acoustic Image Focus II and the Schroeder 1212 light. Since this day on I'm dancing through the streets again, light as a feather.
And I can make it sound raw as a chainsaw and sweeter than the hottest butter......
The details:
Sansamp RBI output into channel 2 of my AI Focus II, the clean signal form the RBI into channel 1. Send channel 1 goes through the Yamaha SPX1000 left channel and the Aphex 204 Aural Exciter for fattening the sound. And send channel 2 goes through the right channels of these two.
In this way I can mix the overdrive from the RBI with the clean signal. I cannot think of anything better.
