Need a new cabinet! help!

Hello there! im new to this site, and think it will help me.
Im in highschool and have a really cool custom Traben bass guitar that is really good in the low ends, and I use a BEGHRINGER BVT550 amp head, as well as 2 seismic audio cabs. Im not to good using the equalizer, but the sound from the amp head is great! my problem, is that the cabs are only 400 watts each, and rattle. as in, when I have even all treble on and no bass, the rattling is everywhere. These are new cabs, and i finally found out that it was the metal circles around the woofers that were rattling, as well as everything on it. I tried a Hartke cab at my church and it seemed really powerful even when on really high volume. Im selling my siesmic cabs, and was really hoping anyone could give my some pointers on what kind of cab to get, around the 600$ price for both, or 700$. I need alot of power, and alot of bass without rattle. Im good at bass, but not good at the tech stuff like heads and cabs, so any help would be awesome! :smug:

Seismic Audio!??!? Yes. You need to get away from those. Seismic Audio is about as low quality as bass cabs come. I recommend getting Acoustic cabs. You can get two 4x10's for about $650 and they are quite sturdy and well-made.

Maybe you should post this in the amps subforum.

For cabs on a budget, I'd recommend looking through craigslist, and also in the talkbass classified section. Peavey cabs are usually pretty good deal. Good sounding, inexpensive, and solidly built.

You can find used Ampeg cabs as well for relatively little.

I agree that perhaps you would get more responses if you post this in or get a mod to move this to the amps forum.

You can buy whatever sounds better to you, however again I say Peavey are one of the better options that incorporates reliably, good prices, and solid build and sound.

Ampeg cabs are great cabs, but generally unless they are totally beat up I have not seen them go as cheap price wise as some other brands. And from my experience Harke cabs with the aluminum speakers will have a sense of brightness in the sound, in fact I believe that is the purpose.

But again get whatever sounds better to you and you can afford.

I would suggest that you not pay too much attention to what you have been told about Peavey. Their pricing has always caused the gear snobs to say they are not 'professional', but if you did a poll here I bet that more than half of us have used Peavey gear with amazing results.

I personally made more $$$ playing a used Peavey 2-15 cab I bought for $100 than any amp I ever had.

BTW I would also suggest Hartke.
