Need a replacement for Wonderful Tonight

I'm not going to play this popular song usually equals I'm not going to hire this band. Leave your ego outside and play what the crowds like. It's only three minutes of your life. You can handle it. Several years ago I was playing with some guys that had a similar attitude. They refused to play several popular (although overplayed and boring) songs even when they were requested. They are still playing $200 gigs.

I agree with you 100%. I'll play Brown Eyed Girl to a dance floor full of people ANYTIME over something that I might like that gets no crowd response.

Good crowd reaction = an active crowd = more drinks purchased = happy owner = repeat gigs. That's our formula. It's also the reason I don't light my bass on fire everytime our guitarist wants to play 500 Miles! Now that song blows but people like it for some reason.

yeah, every single cover band ever has to play "wonderful tonight" every single gig. It's not like there isn't 10,000 other great popular ballads to play.

Pink cadillac
brown eyed girl
brickhouse
mustang sally
all right now
r.o.c.k. in the usa/what i like about you (with the clever "what I hate about you" on the last chorus)
margaritaville
hard to handle
867-5309
wagon wheel
some kind of wonderful
honkey tonk woman
love shack
la grange/sharp dressed man

there, now ya'll have the perfect setlist. Every cover band should be playing this set. People will never dance to anything else for sure.

It's gonna be alright.
