Yes, that's my point. I don't think it fits when it's surrounded by Green Day, Black Keys, Blink 182, Lit, Jimmy Eat World, 3 Doors Down, etc. If our band was playing classic 70's rock, I wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

It' not new- in fact very old-- but if it's for events/weddings/etc "Wonderful World" Louie Armstrong is a good substitute. And it still retains the word "wonderful" lol. For bars, not sure. I hate Wonderful Tonight too... couldn' come up with a more boring song for bass than that... like car mileage, I only have so many "Wonderful Tonights" in me before I won't start.

Another version to listen is The Ramones cover of it - great version - but with certainly a different "feel " than the Louis Armstrong version

Surprise to me!! We played this for the first time about a month ago in a bar, and it caught us all by surprise when everyone in the bar is singing along!! I don't even like the song! I was totally ***?

Our singer walked around with a wireless mic and got people to join in on the chorus. The musos decided to reggae it up a bit one night after too many choruses and that's become a real staple part now. I look forward to playing it!

Watched a dude sing this an octave lower, and the women on the dance floor were tearing up on their men's shoulders. He Absolutely nailed the moment and owned the crowd.
