Need advice/ change pot for improvement ?

I got a Yamaha bb400, that I really like the neck & the playability. I changed the P pickup to Seymour Duncan. But I am still not satisfied with the sound. That is not punch enough & when the band is going loud, it is hard to make it heard.... I saw from this forum about changing pots, 250k, 500k.... does it really improve the sound quality ?

Whether or not it will improve the sound is up to taste.
Some like 500Ks, some like 250Ks.

Could be more of an amp/eq issue than a problem with you pot.

How is your pickup height?

It doesn't "improve", but change it a little bit. Higher resistance pot will load p'up less, so HF resonant peak will be more pronounced ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed] is a bit of info on effects of loading).

Changing strings will make bigger impact on sound than pot value IMHO.

That sounds like an amp problem.

And what kind of strings are you using?

What kind of tone do you use? You might need more mids and highs.
