Need advice on which Graphic EQ Pedal to buy?

Im looking to add a graphic eq pedal to my setup. I currently play an American P bass out of Markbass CMD 102P + MB Traveler 151P. My pedal setup: EBS Multicomp>MB Super Synth>EHX Bass Big Muff Pi. I play in an Indie/Rock band and use a pick most the time. Im looking for top shelf quality. Pedals I'm considering: Whirlwind Bass Ten, Markbass MB7 Booster/Eq, Mooer Graphic B, MXR 10 band, Boss GeB-7....? Suggestions... Thoughts?

I just got the MXR 10-band a few weeks ago, and I absolutely adore it. You can't tell it's on if you leave it flat, and it has an excellent range (+/- 12dB for each band). It can get a little hissy if you cut out the lowest frequencies and goose the highest ones, but your settings have to be pretty extreme to get a noticeable amount of noise. The price isn't too bad either.

The artec bass EQ and tuner pedal is worth considering. It offers a different set of frequencies to the usual boss (and boss clone) offering, particularly more control in the low end with both 100hz and 200hz sliders, handy for adding thump whilst taming mud.

Trace Elliot SM7 pedal if you can find one. I love mine. They usually go for $120 or so, a little more if they have the hard to find power supply.

Does it really have to be a graphic EQ? Otherwise I would've recommended the Empress ParaEQ. Best EQ pedal.

I'm happy with my Source Audio Programmable EQ. 4 presets in a small enclosure. I don't have any experience with any other graphic EQ in pedal form, but this one brings me lots of options and sound good.

I was thinking graphic eq so I could finely manipulate the eq. I'll be using it with my fuzz and synth effects. Could I get that out of a paraEQ?

You can get almost exponentially finer with a parametric EQ like the Empress. A graphic EQ has fixed center points that you can adjust: seven in the case of the Boss, 10 in the case of the Whirlwind. With the Empress parametric you select your own centerpoint in each of three general ranges, plus decide how and how much the frequency is affected to either side of the centerpoint (someone correct me if I'm wrong there).

A graphic is sort of easier to approach, because you don't have to think about centerpoints and can see the general curve by the layout of the sliders. But you can't fine tune the frequencies between the sliders. So for example if you wanted to adjust the 425 range, you couldn't with either the Whirlwind or Boss graphic EQs because they don't have sliders with that centerpoint, but you could with the Empress Para EQ.

You probably want a graphic or a multiband parametric. Just getting a single band parametric, while powerful and in most cases all you'd need for bass, won't give you the multiple boost/cut curves I suspect you are looking for with your setup.

If you want to venture out of the pedal realm into studio rack units the sky is your oyster, to turn over a new coin.

+1 on the GEB-7. It's the only one I've tried but I've been very happy with it.

If you're wanting to shape the sound of your fuzz and synth further than the fuzz and synth allow, put the eq after.

On my pedalboard I have the Boss EQ 20, mainly because it is programmable. I have a couple of Arion EQs, a graphic and a parametric and they work just as well.
