Need flatwounds like sound like roundwounds...if they exist

Ken Smith Compressors sound pretty much like rounds to my ears and are far smoother than a traditional roundwound string. They basically flatten the round wire into an oval as they are wrapping it. I believe the GHS pressurewounds are basically the same idea. They may be the same string in the same package for that matter.

They aren't as smooth feeling as flats, but they do have a roundwound sound.


There also is a string, or at least used to be one, that they take a round wound and grind it smooth. That may be the half round, although I thought it was a called a "ground wound."
