Need help - Ampeg B1RE and Acoustic 115's

Alright, I am in a semi-professional band, we play 60-80 shows a year and we are working on lining out a small tour this summer.

Up until a few weeks ago I was running my 1982 G&L L-1000 through a 600-watt (though I don't think it was really 600 watts RMS) Kustom GrooveBass 115 combo. This served me pretty well except for outdoor shows where I was often run into the PA.

Well, the GrooveBass finally crapped out on me, so I am in the market for a new setup.

I am looking for something with enough power for medium-large indoor venues.

Currently, this is what I'm interested in.

Ampeg B1RE 300 watt at 4 ohms
and
Two Acoustic 115's rated at 250 watts/8 ohms


When all is said and done the price (including shipping, speaker cables, etc.) will come out to $640.

How does this setup look to you guys? Is this enough wattage for what I'm trying to do?

I know that running the 115 cabs in parallel will lead to a 4 ohm load, so I should get the maximum 300 watts out of the Ampeg head, but is this 150 watts to each cabinet?

And lastly, do you all know of any better setup I can get for the price? I really can't spend more than $650.

I've had that amp for a very short period of time. It sounded amazing (Probably even more awesome than my current MarkBass) but it was kinda weak for my band. I've used it with a 4x10 cabinet at 8ohm, so maybe the extra cabinet will be enough for you, volume-wise.

Well that's what I'm hoping.

It says the B1RE is rated at 300 watts @ 4 ohms and 175 @ 8 ohms.

The only reason I am getting two of the cabs is to be able to use all 300 watts if need be.

Two 8 ohm cabs run parallel will make it a 4 ohm load. So I should have access to all 300 watts.

I have yet to see anything of similar tone/wattage for that kind of a price. Other than the Kustom GrooveBass 310c which isn't available on Musicians Friend until 4/23/09....and I can't wait that long.

ahjoy, Check out Fender's Bassman 115 cabinets.
Slightly more expensive than G.C.'s Acoustics but they seem "MUCH" better built with a much better horn. Steel grill, ported, comes with casters.
I played two of them with Fender's 250 head in the store yesterday and was "very" impressed.
