yea paul , the ever ongoing question ,look this is the first time i have joind a forum and i guess u are my 1st conctact!!!!.I, ... have tried just about EVERY THING !!! , im 54 this year and i run a ibanez SDGR with 3 p/u 2vol i treb knobs ....ALL WIRED FLAT OUT ! , i take , have over the years , if your guitar sounds " naturally" nice why put reststance and a capacitor to "DULL" the natural sound . to cut a long story shory i use a Ashton 8 chan p.a mixer for my pre amp , use 2 chan .. oh i use a male Cannon plg on all my guitars , so i run 2 mono outs into desk wich i have " stucked / glued " 2 a speakerstand ....and from there on stage I AM IN CONTROLL of my 2 super scooper 15" 600w RCF /& 2 2x10" i just , relax play,...loud and all the sound comes as much as from your expertize on your instrument
i have never bin ( pardon pun) a F.X freek ...
would be nice 2 get your thoughts i try to use the K.I.S.S method right guitar , right player/ style and most of all enough resreve on stage power to " blow"any drummer iver met keep it simple system has worked well for me BUT HAVING THE TALENT for building exceptionaly loud speaker systems and running " home made" Amps/ speaker boxs , i build p.a' part tpme ...... anyway .... i think the set up at the mo is o.k , a h/h900 power amp bridged giving @ 1.5k mono , if u are interested wiill explain more
