Well, the Squier is lapping the field in the poll with the Yamaha trailing in second. In thinking about it, the CV would give me a passive bass with simpler electronics so less to go wrong. I'm more comfortable tackling physical issues than electronic ones right now. Its apparently easily upgradeable but is mostly fine as is and would provide that pure P-bass sound. I do also kinda like the classic simplicity of the look.
I am thinking to go with the Squier, and use the GSR as backup bass \ modding platform to practice my tinkering. Over time (a lot of time) upgrade the pickups, preamp, tuners and bridge most likely.
Makes sense right?
