Need help deciding on multiple distortion setup

Ok, so I've decided to go with a setup that allows me to have different distortion flavors. Im looking for somewhere between 6 and 8, all somewhere below the 250$ish mark.

So far my list includes:

1. Attack Goat
2. White Russian
3. Supercollider
4. XXL Bass
?. Shoe Gazer
?. Battering Ram

Im undecided on the Shoe Gazer and Battering Ram, as im gonna be running all these with a selector strip and I don't really want 2 switcher type units. Im thinking maybe a Cherry Pop or Soda Meiser instead of the SG, and im tempted to pick up a Brown Dog for a gated fuzz sound.

Of the soundclips I've heard the 4 numbered pedals seem to each have a definite unique sound not necessarily found in the others.

So, basically Im looking for 2 to 4 other suggestions. The more unusual the better

Maybe not so much...would that (including the G.D.) only be five distortions that you'd have at your feet at one time? I'm not familiar with how the Line 6 modelers work. I imagine you'd could only use 4 on the fly...::shrugs::

I don't know if this is what you are looking for...but it's just a thought.

It definitely has more than 1 footswitch

Also, if I wanted MODELS of distortions I'd just get myself another POD

On another note, Im thinking of maybe putting a noise gate before, or in the 1st loop to "make" a gated fuzz out of any of the distortions

As for the initial question, I might answer your question with one of my own... why? I amd an effects junkie as well, but I can't help but notice that all of your potential dirt boxes are of the "high gain/fuzz" category. I can see having a gated fuzz in addition to an ungated, but beyond that (As much fun as it would undoubtedly be) how much sonic difference do you think you'll really be able to hear between all of those in a band context? It seems to me that it would be a better value to pick up maybe three dirt pedals that play well together (say low, medium and high gain pedals) and figure out a good way to cascade them into one another for additional textures.

I think you should get a Devi Ever Eye Of God and put a Devi Ever Hyperion in it's loop. That will give you some awesome sounds. All for under $200

As for the initial question, I might answer your question with one of my own... why?

Each might be a high gain fuzz, but each has its own flavor.

The Attack Goat has an ususual (to my ears) semi-octave-up sound, the Supercollider seems to be a really doomy dark fuzz, the XXL seems to be a really gritty fuzz, and from what I've heard of the White Russian, it seems to be a well rounded muff clone.

Im considering the Prunes&Custard as an addition to the list as well since it is a little unusual in its sound, from what I've read about it on here.

I may just get the LAL, but im not sure. I might go with a really sharp octave up type fuzz, but I'll prolly just put the gate (prolly an NS-2) in the 1st bypass loop just so that there is not buffer before the fuzzes. Which reminds me that I must request that the Meatwad not have a buffer before the FX loop....

So basically the list is as of now:

3. Supercollider
4. XXL Bass
5. Prunes&Custard
"6". NS-2 noise gate

Im not really sure if I need any of the devi ever fuzzes with having the SC for darker sounds and the WR, XXL, and Goat for the brighter type stuff.

If anyone else has any other suggestions for fuzzes I would love to hear them, but Im tempted to keep it down to a 6 loop strip

Not sure why a supercollider & a white russian, they are both muffs really... if you are searching for 8 different sounds might divide those two... based on what you said, and your responses to others.. here are 10 pedals/groups I'd look at...

- Is the Tech 21 XXL Bass unique IYO, or should it belong in one of those groups?

- Would you consider the Pickle and Supercollider different enough?

In other news, I've decided to keep it to 5 pedals + a gate in the loop. Ordered the Attack Goat, 6 Loop strip, and ABY for the board, so that kindof makes it final.

Next on the list is the Meatwad (or something similar) and the Supercollider.

Get the Supercollider Dan!!!....Seriously...in my one band it feels like a part of me dies when I turn it off. I keep a mild overdrive for those parts of the songs that don't require any anger.

As for the Meatwad...The 3leaf is a little cheaper and also based on the Meatball.

Supercollider is dirt cheap for what it does. Quiite a versatile muffy fuzz, and can cop a lot tones.
It will play well with actives, provided you don't absolutely slam the input too much, otherwise it'll just saturate to hell and lose definition. But maybe you like that?
It plays very well with other gain pedals.

That's 4 fuzz pedals, and 1 distortion. If you are set on those 5 then it would make the most sense to round out the lineup with an OD pedal. Or you could swap the attack goat for a battering ram to this end.

All are high gain pedals. OD = low gain (IME), so Im not looking in that direction. No offense, but the clips I've heard of the XXL, it sounds quite high gain, and almost fuzzy anyways.
